Undergraduate Bursary:

  • Eligibility:
    • South African citizenship.
    • Completion of Matric.
    • Full-time enrollment in a BPharm qualification.
    • Must be in your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of study (1st-year students are not eligible).
    • Enrollment at a recognized South African tertiary institute.
    • PSSA student membership (membership is free).
    • Passing of all previous subjects/modules.
    • A minimum overall average of 60% at mid-year.
    • Demonstrated financial need (family income less than R130,000 per annum before tax).
  • Application Process:
    • Download and complete the PSSA Bursary Application Form 2024 (Undergraduate).
    • Include “StudentRoom.co.za” in the field asking how you heard about the PSSA bursary.
    • Submit clear copies of required documents, including ID document, academic record, motivational letter from a pharmacy lecturer, and financial declaration.
    • Submit the completed application through email ([email protected]), delivery, or Postnet.

Postgraduate Bursary:

  • Eligibility:
    • South African citizenship.
    • Completion of Matric.
    • Completion of an undergraduate qualification.
    • Full-time enrollment in a postgraduate (Masters or Doctoral) Pharmacy qualification.
    • Enrollment at a recognized South African tertiary institute.
    • PSSA student membership.
  • Application Process:
    • Postgraduate applications will open in March 2024 (note that the application period is not currently open).

Important Notes:

  • Certified copies of documents must be submitted; do not submit original documents.
  • The bursary does not cover existing loans or outstanding student debts.
  • Applicants will receive email confirmation upon application receipt.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be contacted, and unsuccessful applicants may not receive feedback.
  • The final decision will be made by the Committee, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the decision.
