ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
For admission to a 4-year degree programme of study at MUAST, a student must have the following qualifications in the ZIMSEC / CAMBRIDGE examinations or equivalent:
All applicants MUST have passed 5 (five) O` Level subjects including English Language and Mathematics and any three of the following subjects: Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Accounts, Geography, Agriculture, Physics, Integrated Science, Physical Science or any other related subjects and two Advanced level passes.
Mature entry: (For the Faculty of Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship and Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences): Applicants should be at least 25 years for females and 23 years for males on the first day of the academic year in which admission is sought. The candidates should have passed at least 5 Ordinary Level subjects (including Mathematics and English language) or equivalents and must have demonstrated potential suitability for University studies by virtue of their attainment of relevant work experience.
Specific requirements for the degree programmes on offer are as follows:
Bachelor of Science Honours in Animal Science and Technology
2‘A’ Level passes in Biology and any one of the following subjects:
Agriculture, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Geography or any other related subject.
Or
Applicants should be holders of a Diploma in Agriculture from a recognized institution and should have attained an overall grade of Merit or better. Applicants with a Pass grade should have at
least 2 years work experience in the relevant field.
Bachelor of Science Honours in Animal Science and Health
2‘A’ Level passes in Biology and any one of the following subjects:
Agriculture, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Geography or any other related subject.
Or
Applicants should be holders of a Diploma in Agriculture from a recognized institution and should have attained an overall grade
Bachelor of Science Honours in Plant Breeding and Biotechnology
2‘A’ Level passes in Biology/Agriculture and any one of the following subjects:
Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Geography or any other related subject
Or
Applicants should be holders of a Diploma in Agriculture from a recognized institution and should have attained an overall grade
of Merit or better. Applicants with a Pass grade should have at least 2 years work experience in the relevant field.
Bachelor of Science Honours in Crop Production and Technology
2‘A’ Level passes in Biology / Agriculture and any one of the following subjects:
Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Geography or any other related subject
Or
Applicants should be holders of a Diploma in Agriculture from a recognized institution and should have attained an overall grade
of Merit or better. Applicants with a Pass grade should have at least 2 years work experience in the relevant field.
Bachelor of Science Honours in Horticulture
2‘A’ Level passes in Biology / Agriculture and any one of the following subjects:
Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Geography or any other related subject
Or
Applicants should be holders of a Diploma in Agriculture from a recognized institution and should have attained an overall grade of Merit or better. Applicants with a Pass grade should have at
least 2 years work experience in the relevant field.
Bachelor of Science Honours in Natural Resources Management
2‘A’ Level passes in any of the following subjects:
Biology, Agriculture, Mathematics, Chemistry, Economics, Accounts, Management of Business, Geography Sociology, Economics, History, Divinity and Literature in English.
Or
Applicants with relevant Diploma in Agriculture, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Sciences from a recognized institution and should have attained an overall grade of Merit or
better. Applicants with a Pass grade should have at least 2 years work experience in the relevant field.
