RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend tender briefings, prepare tender documentation, write method statements, assist with pricing calculations, and contribute to tender processes as and when required.
- Contribute to the marketing and business development of the Electrical Department to on-board new clients/projects.
- Internal Project Management, Health and Safety, Administration and Quality Management Procedures
- Comply with Company procedures and processes in terms of project registration and risk analysis.
- Comply with Quality procedures by ensuring auditable trail of actions during full life cycle of project delivery process all in accordance with company Quality Management Procedures.
- Comply with and embrace Health and Safety requirements in the workplace as well as on construction sites.
- Ensure that required services meet applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
Project delivery and management:
- Actively lead, participate, and contribute to the design and technical aspects of projects in order to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget and to specification.
- Paramount to this role is conceptualisation, design development, and producing detail design work, as well as delivering contract documentation, specifications, and drawings.
- Sign-off on engineering designs by taking professional responsibility as per ECSA guidelines for designs executed.
- Successfully manage small to medium size projects.
- Design of electrical reticulation and building services for various types of projects including but not limited to the following: hospitals, commercial / residential and industrial buildings, reticulation and bulk connections for residential / retirement, commercial and industrial developments.
- Design of services/systems such as, but not limited to bulk applications, small power, lighting, fire detection, access control, emergency services, ML/LV reticulation, streetlighting, telecoms containment, fibre networks.
- Detailed knowledge of renewable energy designs will be an added advantage, this will include solar PV design, wheeling, wind farms, etc.
Leadership and Relations:
- Maintain good working relations with all stakeholders, both internal and external to the Company.
- Pro-actively liaise with clients to ensure the Company meets requirements.
- Effectively manage project teams to control risks and to achieve targets on time and within budget.
- Assist with the compilation and review of discipline specific technical standards, templates, and technologies.
- Desired Experience & Qualification
- B. Eng/B. Tech degree in Electrical Engineering at a recognized institution.
- Professional registration is preferred or be eligible for Professional registration with ECSA within one year of appointment.
- Ten or more years of relevant experience post degree qualification (position will be dependent on years’ experience).
- Ability to manage and interact with people effectively.
- Ability to grow and maintain client relationships.
- Fluent in English.
- Knowledge & experience of South African working conditions including SANS 10142 and 10400-XA.
- Must be able to work independently and execute all stages of a project with minimum to no supervision.
- Be a team player and work well with others.
- Good verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Proven ability to execute designs, work as part of a team, as well as manage small to medium projects.
- Diligent and able to work under consistent pressure to meet deadlines.
- Design accuracy and attention to detail is crucial.
- Good problem-solving skills and application of engineering judgement.
- Client focused (both internal and external clients).
- Good financial acumen in project planning, control, and execution.
- High level of specialised computer skills is key to this role, e.g., Autodesk suite of software, especially AutoCAD,
- Helioscope or other solar PV design experience will be beneficial, ReticMaster, DIALux and Relux.
- High level of general computer skills, e.g., MS Office suite of software, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.
- Experience in REVIT, as well as scheduling software like MS Projects will be an added advantage.\
