About the Sol Plaatje University
Solomon Tshekisho Plaatje (9 October 1876 – 19 June 1932) was a South African intellectual, journalist, linguist, politician, translator and writer. Plaatje was a founder member and first General Secretary of the South African Native National Congress (SANNC), which became the African National Congress (ANC). The Sol Plaatje Local Municipality, which includes the city of Kimberley, is named after him, as is the Sol Plaatje University in this city, which opened its doors in 2014.

SPU Nursing School Admission Requirements 2023
To be eligible for admission to study nursing, applicants need to meet the minimum requirements for eligibility:
Mathematics, Physical Sciences, and Biology are recommended for Matriculation studies. Candidates will be admitted to the program if they have completed level 4 or literacy level 5 in mathematics, level 4 in physical science, and level 4 in life science.
Clinical training will take place at general and midwifery hospitals, mental hospitals, the community, and community health service facilities in the province in question.
