A Learnerships Programmes can be described as a training programme that consists of both theoretical and practical elements. It offers a way for you to gain work experience, as well as an NQF registered qualification. This relates directly to an occupation or field of work.

Minimum Required Qualification:

  • Applicants must have a minimum Grade-12 or equivalent NQF Educational Certificate, in order to be accepted onto the Blasting Certificate programme.

The Appointee Should:

  • Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the relevant Sibanye Gold Occupational Health Care Centre.

Advantageous Qualifications:

  • Applicants with Pure Mathematics and English in grade-12
  • Applicants with highest aggregate in Pure Mathematics and English in grade-12

Additional Requirements:

  • Shortlisted applicants will need to undergo an interview process, psychometric assessment and screening, which will be considered during allocation of learnerships.
  • The selection process will not be delayed to accommodate applicants whose screening process is delayed for whatsoever reason
  • Applicants must upload CV, certified (SAPS) copies of ID and qualifications online
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered for selection
  • All foreign qualifications must have SAQA verification

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learners acquiring this qualification will be equipped with the required competencies to supervise safe and efficient blasting and other associated mining activities in an underground environment

  • Have the relevant minimum N2 qualifications to be considered in the above mentioned engineering trade for which the application is made.
Learnership 18.2 Rigger\Ropesman
  • Rigger / Ropesman– required qualification subjects: Mathematics, Engineering Science, Engineering Drawings, and Rigger Trade Theory.
  • Have the relevant minimum N2 qualifications to be considered in the above mentioned engineering trade for which the application is made
Learnership 18.2 Plating
  • Plater / Welder – required qualification subjects: Mathematics, Engineering Science, Plating and Structural Steel Drawings and Platers Trade Theory.
