How to apply for the SASSA Application on WhatsApp

1. Add 082 046 8553 as a contact on your cellphone
2. Go to WhatsApp and send a message to the new contact by typing ‘hi’
3. You will receive an automated response, respond to this by typing ‘help’
4. You will be provided a number of options, reply by typing the number ‘4’
5. You will then receive the Sassa platform message, reply to this with ‘SRD’
6. Confirm whether you’re applying for yourself or on behalf of someone else
7. You can now begin the application
8. Submit your name, surname, and ID number in the message
9. You will receive a message on Whatsapp with the next steps,

• The processing time is 30 working days for your application to be processed and checked and either approved or refused.
• If your application is refused, you’ll get a letter explaining why it has been refused and how you can appeal.
• If you are approved, you will be invited for an interview and your bio-data will be captured.
