The South African Air Force is the air warfare branch of the South African National Defence Force, with its headquarters in Pretoria. The South African Air Force was established on 1 February 1920. The Air Force has seen service in World War II and the Korean War.

Requirements:
- RSA Citizen (No dual citizenship)
- Preferably Single
- Not Area Bound
- No Criminal Record
- Comply with fitness requirements for appointment in the SANDF
Pilots/Navigators Requirements:
- Members with Commercial Pilots license (CPL) not older than 24 years with Mathematics and Physical Science (Level 4)
- 22-26 Years if in possession of a tertiary qualification (degree, N Diploma, or N4, N5, N6 prescripts). Completed Grade 12 with Level 4 Maths and Physical Science
- 18–24 Years – Completed Grade 12 or N3 (Technical) with 6 subjects of which two must be languages Mathematics and Physical Science (Level 4)
- No hearing impairment (no hearing aid)
- Have 6/6 eye vision (no contact lenses or corrective lenses or surgery
Pilot and Navigators are to comply with the following cockpit measurements:
- Minimum height – 1600mm; maximum height – 1900mm
- minimum weight – 53KG; max weight – 102KG
Engineering Requirements
- Maths and Science required.
- 26 Years if in possession of a tertiary qualification (degree, N Diploma, or N4, N5, N6 prescripts). Completed Grade 12 with Level 6 Maths and Physical Science
- 18–24 Years – Completed Grade 12
- Or Equivalent (University Entrance) Mathematics and Physical Science minimum Level – 4 (Essential);
- English Level-5 (Essential)
- Admission Point Score (APS) of 35 excluding Life Orientation
