Purpose of the Role:

The Apprentice Level 1 position at Mercedes-Benz Bedfordview involves providing technical and diagnostic services within the service department. The primary responsibilities include repairing Passenger Cars & Vans in compliance with dealer/distributor standards and specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducting fault diagnosis to expedite vehicle servicing.
  • Utilizing modern diagnostic equipment effectively for vehicle service and interpretation of findings.
  • Engaging with customers to discuss service details when required.
  • Servicing electric equipment as necessary.
  • Adhering to DCSA procedures and policies during repairs and maintaining printouts.
  • Ensuring accurate fault diagnosis to meet customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinating vehicle care and safety during service.
  • Minimizing comebacks to a minimum.
  • Attending breakdown calls as required.
  • Returning vehicles to customers in a clean condition after service.
  • Signing for and using parts on the relevant vehicle.
  • Returning unused parts to the parts department.
  • Providing cost-effective and accurate remedies for faults or customer complaints.
  • Giving advice or using techniques for quality and time efficiency.
  • Offering fault-finding and systems diagnostic service on motor vehicles to support mechanics.
  • Completing necessary forms and documentation within the company’s service routine.
  • Preparing any required reports.
  • Participating in and providing suggestions for special promotional campaigns.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and tidiness of the work area.
  • Completing job cards and submitting to the service advisor promptly.
  • Attending training courses provided by Daimler and Cargo Motors.
  • Assisting with other duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Grade 12 with Maths and Physical Science
  • N2 qualification in Engineering Science, Technical Drawing, Maths, and Motor Trade Theory
  • Valid Driver’s License
