About Hoërskool Ficksburg, Ficksburg
Willem Beukes is in 1874 as eerste onderwyser en hoof aangestel.. Die eerste skoolgebou is in 1878 gebou, maar is na die Anglo-Boereoorlog gesloop omdat dit te erg gebars het. Beukes het slegs vir 5 jaar skoolgehou en toe hy die skool in 1879 verlaat, was daar vyftien leerlinge in die skool.
Na die Anglo-Boere-Oorlog is die skool in ‘n tent en in die stadsaal gehuisves. Die skoolhoof was mnr Webber met drie dames as assistente. Daar is skool gehou in die sandsteengeboue wat later jare die destydse HTS gehuisves het. Omdat die aantal leerlinge te veel geword het, is daar begin met die bou van ‘n nuwe skool op die huidige laerskoolterrein.
