FAIS Ombud invites unemployed graduates to apply for Internship Programme 2023 / 2024.

In order to discharge its mandate, the FAIS Ombud seeks to appoint Graduate Trainees as part of the Graduate Recruitment Programme.  This is a structured programme specifically designed to produce a pipeline of competent trainee entrants to the labour market.

Duration – The duration of the programme is twelve (12) months.

Roll out of the Programme:  Recommended candidates will be given an opportunity to learn under a dedicated mentor. Graduates will be assigned to various Departments, based on their qualifications and aspirations, and exposed to various competency-based training during the duration of the twelve-month programme. Graduates will be based in the following Departments:

  • Exposure to working in a target driven environment on complaints received by the public against financial service providers and to move same towards a resolution in a procedurally fair, informal, economical and expeditious manner.
  • Working in a team of experienced lawyers, financial planner(s), Investigators and negotiators.
  • Training on the financial planning process, insurance, investments, retirement planning, financial services legislation and drafting.
  • Opportunity to be part of an established statutory office and a Mentorship Programme.

Requirements for application

  • South African citizen with a valid South African Identity document.
  • LLB degree.
  • Passion for public service and an interest/desire to work in the Financial Sector.
  • Strong academic background.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment, willingness to learn and work extra hours.
  • Energetic, self-driven and deadline driven.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • PLT (Practical Legal Training) will be an advantage.
