Internship Location: Durban, KwaZulu-Natal

The Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI) is seeking Finance Interns. The successful candidates will be responsible for capturing data into a computer using a keyboard, under supervision, keep track of received data and source documents, prepares and sorts source documents, and identifies and interprets data to be entered.

The desired candidates will also be responsible for contacting authors of source documents to resolve questions, inconsistencies or missing data and makes necessary corrections to information entered. Compiling, sorting, and verifiying accuracy of data to be entered, keeping record of completed tasks, reviews errors on reports and file or routes source documents after entry. The candidate will be responsible for most data capturing within the AHRI financial department. From time to time the successful candidate will be required to assist with other administrative duties within the office environment.

Overview of Duties

  • Processing Goods receipt notes on finance system.
  • Managing documents and filing for the Finance Department.
  • Assist in other administrative and support areas as and when required.
  • Provide internal and external auditors with information.
  • Asist when required in the preparation of adhoc payments made using payment requisition form (Blue Form)
  • Read and be familiar with the AHRI’s policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • B Comm or B Comm (Acc) degree or similar relevant qualification.​​​​​​​

Advantageous: Experience in financial administration is an advantage.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Accuracy and precision.
  • High computer literacy.
  • Must be able to multitask and work under pressure.
