About KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board

The KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board, previously the Natal Sharks Board and Natal Anti-Shark Measures Board is an organisation that maintains a “shark control” program off the coast of KwaZulu-Natal Province, South Africa, at 37 places. The purpose of the nets and drum lines is to reduce the number of shark attacks.

What does the Sharks Board do?

  • Protects bathers against shark attacks.
  • Conducts biological research on sharks.
  • Educates the public about the activities of the KZN Sharks Board.
  • Informs the public about the role of sharks in the marine environment.

The KZN Sharks Board was founded as a statutory body in 1962, when the city of Durban’s netting operations were extended to other parts of the coast in the then Natal Province.

It is headquartered in uMhlanga, north of Durban.

Requirements

We would like to invite unemployed graduates to participate in this one-year program that will provide them with valuable work experience.

Applications are invited from interested candidates in possession of a three-year (3) Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma from a recognised University or College in the following fields/areas. A stipend of R7000 will be paid.
