bursary is a monetary award made by any educational institution or funding authority to individuals or groups. It is usually awarded to enable a student to attend school, university or college when they might not be able to, otherwise. Some awards are aimed at encouraging specific groups or individuals into study.

Scatec invites South African students to apply for Bursary Programme 2023 academic year.

We invite all matric (grade 12) and university students to apply for the Scatec bursary program.

This is an all-inclusive bursary offered to talented individuals who are planning to study full-time or currently studying full-time towards an undergraduate / postgraduate degree in selected Engineering qualifications. To be considered, you must be a South African citizen, currently registered or qualifying for possible registration at an approved South-African University the following year.

Applications may be submitted for degrees (no diplomas) in one of the following fields of study:

  • Electrical Engineering (B.Eng)
  • Electronic Engineering (B.Eng)
  • Mechanical Engineering (B.Eng)

WHAT DOES THE BURSARY INCLUDE?

  • Registration fees
  • Tuition fees (no payment for repeat modules)
  • Prescribed textbooks
  • Meal allowance
  • Accommodation
  • A once-off Computer and Calculator allowance
  • Work opportunities (with a work-back obligation/pay-back obligation) – based on Company needs
  • Development opportunities (e.g. possible vacation work after completion of 2nd and 3rd academic year of study)
  • Psyche-social support (Student discussions / Workshops / EAP – Employee assistance programme)
  • Work opportunities (with a work-back obligation/pay-back obligation) – based on Company needs

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SCATEC BURSARY

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must have completed Matric OR must be currently in Matric
  • You must be studying or intend on studying full-time within one of the aforementioned fields of study
  • You must be studying or intend on studying at a university that is recognised or accredited by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)
  • Matric students: you must have achieved a minimum overall average of 70% AND a pass rate for Mathematics and Physical Science
  • 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students: end of year results and full academic transcript. Minimum overall average of 50%
  • Postgraduate students: succesful completion of undergraduate studies
  • Preference will be given to students from previously disadvantaged designated groups within South Africa

SELECTION PROCESS

  • All applications must be submitted online only.
  • Applicants, who do not have internet access or access to an internet café in their area, may contact our Cape Town office (Pat Volwana) at 021- 202 1230 for support
  • All applicants short-listed will be required to attend an interview as well as psychometric tests
  • All applications should be submitted before close of business of the application closing date

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your application (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):

  • South African ID document or smart card (certified copy)
  • Current Matric students: Grade 11 final results AND Matric latest results (certified copies)
  • Current university students: Matric certificate AND full tertiary academic record (certified copies)
  • Proof of University registration or acceptance (on institutions letterhead)
  • Curriculum Vitae (in PDF or MS Word format)
