It is usually awarded to enable a student to attend school, university or college when they might not be able to, otherwise. Some awards are aimed at encouraging specific groups or individuals into study.

Rand Water invites South African students to apply for Bursary Programme 2023 academic year.

Bursaries will be awarded for undergraduate studies, within these Water Sector-related fields:

  • Accounting (BCom) (1 bursary will be awarded)
  • Bachelor of Architecture (3 bursaries will be awarded)
  • Bachelor of Law (LLB) (3 bursaries will be awarded)
  • Biology (BSc) (1 bursary will be awarded)
  • Catering Management (Diploma) (2 bursaries will be awarded)
  • Chemical Engineering (BSc) (2 bursaries will be awarded)
  • Chemistry (BSc) (1 bursary will be awarded)
  • Civil Engineering (BEng) (4 bursaries will be awarded)
  • Communications (Diploma) (2 bursaries will be awarded)
  • Electrical (BEng) (3 bursaries will be awarded)
  • Finance (Bachelor’s Degree) (1 bursary will be awarded)
  • Finance (Diploma) (1 bursary will be awarded)
  • Finance and Communications (Diploma or Degree) (1 bursary will be awarded)
  • Financial Accounting (BAcc) (2 bursaries will be awarded)
  • Geomatics (BSc) (2 bursaries will be awarded)
  • Mechanical Engineering (BSc) (1 bursary will be awarded)

Requirements

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must be under 35 years old
  • You must have completed Matric or equivalent
  • You must be studying full-time towards one of the qualifications listed below:
    • Accounting (BCom) students: you must be entering your 2nd year of study in 2023
    • Bachelor of Architecture students: you must be entering your 3rd year of study in 2023
    • Bachelor of Law (LLB) students: you must be entering your 2nd or 3rd year of study in 2023
    • Biology (BSc) students: you must be entering your 3rd year of study in 2023
    • Catering Management (Diploma) students: you must be entering your 2nd or 3rd year of study in 2023
    • Chemical Engineering (BSc) students: you must be entering your 3rd year of study in 2023
    • Chemistry (BSc) students: you must be entering your 3rd year of study in 2023
    • Civil Engineering (BEng) students: you must be entering your 1st, 2nd or 3rd year of study in 2023
    • Communications (Diploma) students: you must be entering your 2nd or 3rd year of study in 2023
    • Electrical (BEng) students: you must be entering your 3rd year of study in 2023
    • Finance (Bachelor’s Degree) students: you must be entering your 2nd year of study in 2023
    • Finance (Diploma) students: you must be entering your 2nd year of study in 2023
    • Finance and Communications (Diploma or Degree) students: you must be entering your 3rd year of study in 2023
    • Financial Accounting (BAcc) students: you must be entering your 2nd year of study in 2023
    • Geomatics (BSc) students: you must be entering your 1st year of study in 2023
    • Mechanical Engineering (BSc) students: you must be entering your 3rd year of study in 2023
  • You must be studying at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
  • You must have achieved a minimum overall average of 65% and academic performance in major subject
  • You must be interested in working within the water sector
  • You must be from a previously disadvantaged background
  • You must NOT be receiving any other bursary awards or funding
  • You must be self-motivated
  • You must be results-driven
  • You must have good written and verbal communication skills
  • You must intend on completing your qualification within the specified amount of time, per the bursary agreement
  • Preference will be given to female students, as well as students with disabilities (in line with Rand Water’s Employment Equity objectives)
