The Department of Employment and Labour is the department of the South African government responsible for matters related to employment, including industrial relations, job creation, unemployment insurance and occupational health and safety.

About Department of Labour Learnerships Programme

The mission of the Department of Labour is to regulate the South African labour market for a sustainable economy through: appropriate legislation and regulations; inspection, compliance monitoring and enforcement; protection of human rights; provision of employment services; promotion of equity; social and income protection; and social dialogue.

The Department plays a significant role in reducing unemployment, poverty and inequality through a set of policies and programmes developed in consultation with social partners, which are aimed at: improved economic efficiency and productivity; employment creation; sound labour relations; eliminating inequality and discrimination in the workplace; and alleviating poverty in employment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY FOR THIS LEARNERSHIP

  • South African citizen
  • Between 18 and 30 years old
  • Completed Matric
  • Passed Accounting or Mathematics in Matric
  • Not currently employed
  • Computer literate
  • Good command of the English language (able to read, write and speak English)
  • Good communication skills
  • Self-motivated
  • A team player
  • Willing to learn
  • Clear criminal record
  • Clear credit record
  • Previous banking knowledge (advantageous but not essential)
  • Previous experience in the retail sector (advantageous but not essential)
