Anglo American Platinum Bursary 2022 -2023

The bursary and scholarship programmes offered by Anglo American Platinum provide young professionals with a gateway into the business, the mining sector, and the job market.

The bursary provides the following benefits (applicable to all fields).

  • Cost of tuition.
  • Accommodation allowance.
  • Allowance for laptop.
  • Study material allowance.
  • Medical aid benefits.
  • Living costs.

Note: Candidates who want to stay under their parent’s or guardian’s medical aid must submit proof of the same.

Eligibility Criteria For The Bursary

Candidates must check the eligibility criteria before applying for the scholarship. There should not be any exception or the application will not be considered.

For Mech/Elec/Electromechanical Engineering

  • Students pursuing Grade 12 currently.
  • Students who have passed Grade 12.
  • Students who have been enrolled at a university for pursuing a diploma or degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

For Metallurgy and Chemical Engineering

  • Students pursuing their third year of Extraction Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering.

For Mine Survey

  • Students in their third year must have completed their second year and passed all modules, as well as all subjects they are currently enrolled in at a tertiary institution.
  • Students in their fourth year must have completed their third year and have passed all modules, as well as all subjects you are currently enrolled in at a tertiary institution.

For Rock Engineering

  • Students in grade 12 who have passed grade 11.
  • Grade 12 students in the first year (Mathematics, Science and English with 60 per cent pass rate). First-year mining and geology engineering or geology qualification, applied and accepted (BET, BENG, BSc).
  • First-year students who are currently enrolled must have completed all of the modules for which they were registered.
  • Students completing their 2nd year must have passed all of the modules and subjects you are currently registered for. They must be enrolled in a tertiary institution’s second year.

For Mining Engineering

  • Students in grade 12 who have passed grade 11.
  • Grade 12 students in the first year (Mathematics, Science and English with 60 per cent pass rate). First-year mining engineering(BET, BENG, BSc)-NQF8.
  • First-year students who are currently enrolled must have completed all of the modules for which they were registered.
  • Students completing their 2nd year must have passed all of the modules and subjects you are currently registered for.
  • Students completing their fourth year must have passed all of the modules and subjects you are currently registered for.

For Ventilation Trainee

  • Students currently pursuing their third year in Mining Engineering of a 4-year degree (BSc, BEng, BET)-NQF8.

For Geology

  • Students in grade 12 who have leases grade 11.
  • Grade 12 pupils in the first year (Mathematics, Science and English with 60 per cent pass rate). Submitted and approved.
  • Second-year students who are currently enrolled as first-year students must have completed all of the registered-for modules.
  • To qualify for the third year, you must have completed the second year and passed all of its modules.

  • Grade 11 results, stamped by your respective school.
  • Grade 12 results, if completed, a certified copy.
  • A Curriculum Vitae containing all the relevant information.

For Metallurgy and Chemical Engineering

  • Valid ID documents.
  • Certified copy of results of Grade 12 results.
  • Latest academic transcripts as well as last year’s results.
  • A Curriculum Vitae containing all the relevant information.
  • Residential proof.

Closing Date

The applications will close on 31 July 2022 and 01 August for the Geology bursary only.

No late applications will be accepted.
